Where We Work
Luangwa Valley
Project Luangwa resides in the heart of Mfuwe, a small settlement situated on the edge of South Luangwa National Park in Eastern Zambia.
South Luangwa is one of the great remaining unspoiled regions of Africa, home to a vast array of wildlife and natural wilderness. The safari operators of the area, many of whom are members and supporters of Project Luangwa, offer world class safaris and a range of incredible nature experiences. Alongside the unbelievable scenery is also a beautiful and vibrant local culture, making the visitor experience that much richer and more memorable for all.
Although tourism is the major economic driver in the area and provides many jobs, there are still many in the community who rely on subsistence farming for their livelihoods. Project Luangwa serves such communities who are some of the poorest in Zambia. Tourism, by providing funding for Project Luangwa, is supporting such communities.
