About Project Luangwa
Where We Are
Project Luangwa is a charitable organisation based in the Luangwa Valley in Zambia. We have two major focuses – Education and Gender Equality, which we work to support through a number of initiatives. These include building schools and infrastructure, digital education programmes, menstrual hygiene initiatives, safe space and confidence building programmes, fuel-efficient cooking stoves and sponsorship.
The communities Project Luangwa serves are some of the poorest in Zambia, often relying on subsistence farming for their livelihoods. Tourism is also a huge part of the local economy and we work hard to ensure that benefits of tourism come to directly support local people.
Project Luangwa resides in the heart of Mfuwe, a small, but growing, settlement situated on the edge of South Luangwa National Park.
South Luangwa is one of the great remaining unspoiled regions of Africa, home to a vast array of wildlife and natural wilderness.
Alongside the unbelievable scenery is also a beautiful and vibrant local culture, making the visitor experience that much richer and more memorable for all.
