Abraham Banda
Abraham Banda completed his training as a teacher in December 2011.  He attended Jubeva Teacher Training College in Chipata for two years to qualify as a Basic or Primary School level teacher. This means that he is qualified to teach grades 1 to 7.

Project Luangwa paid his fees and expenses for his first year at college but in 2011 these were paid by a kind donor. Before starting his training Abraham agreed to stay and teach in the South Luangwa area for at least two years once he was qualified and although he will not officially get his results until later in the year will start teaching at Katapilla Community School from Term 1 2012 as a volunteer. He will be paid a small allowance to cover his expences and food until offered employment by the Education Board.

Aliphad Tembo
For over a year Aliphad taught at Katapila Community School recieving a small allowance to cover living costs.  It was on a visit to the school that we first met Aliphad and he stood out. His classroom was bright and full of posters. His pupils lively and very keen to learn. Even after school hours he could be found in his classroom either making posters or helping the kids with their writing or drawing.

In an email to a Project Luangwa supporter Aliphad's name was mentioned as was his enthusiasm for teaching. No request for sponsorship was made so you can imagine our suprise when an email came back offering him sponsorship to be trained as a Primary School Teacher.

This was all Aliphad had hoped for and he enrolled at Jubeva Teacher Training College in Chipata. He will finish his course in December 2012 and will return for at least two years to South Luangwa.  Aliphad loves his teaching and is very enthusiastic.
