Do you find yourself not using all of your luggage allowance when going on Safari?

Then use that excess space to help the Luangwa community.
Project Luangwa has joined forces with its Member Lodges to encourage visitors to make the most of their luggage allowance and by adding a few extra items you can help a school or orphaned child in Mfuwe.

Making a difference 1 kg at a time

Every little helps
There are many small items that can be squeezed into the empty corners of your bag and it's suprising how much little it weighs.

For just 2 kg of you allowance you could bring: 350 pencils or 240 pens or 166 rulers or 4 deflated footballs.

What to pack
What is needed can vary depending what our kind visitors have already brought and we update the list regularly so keep looking back and checking.

So what happens to the things you donate?
We advise people that it is better to leave the distribution of your donated to us as we know where there is the greatest need so please leave everything with your Lodge or Camp manager and they will pass it all on to our office for distribution to the neediest kids and around the schools - of course you're welcome to come along with us.

Can you fill a suitcase?  Then we can help with getting it here . . .
If you can fill a whole suitcase or travel bag with school supplies or sports equipment we can help you get it here with our Lusaka to Mfuwe Pilot Post Scheme at no cost to you.

First have a look at what is needed - there's a list on the left. Next send us an email telling us when you are coming so we can alert our guys in Lusaka.   Then all you have to do is fill a case or travel bag and get it to Lusaka Airport. When you arrive leave the bag at the Tours Africa office (upstairs).  They will attached one of our special labels and take it to Proflight who will put it on the next available flight to Mfuwe that has spare luggage space. Project Luangwa then collects it from Mfuwe Airport and distributes it to the schools or the neediest kids.

You must be prepared to lose the bag (in case it arrives here after your departure) but we do recycle them to kids going away to school. Your bag may only contain school items or sports wear/equipment (no clothes please).

If you would like to use this scheme to bring much needed school supplies to Project Luangwa please read the detailed information here.

Our list of needs (right) regularly changes so please keep looking back. Thank you for helping the kids and schools of South Luangwa.
