Management Team

Karen Beattie, along with her husband, Dave Hopson, first visited the Luangwa Valley in 2006 with the intention of staying for three or four days.  They fell in love with Mfuwe and its people so much that they stayed for the whole month and kept returning for two or three months every year, spending half of their time in the Park and the rest trying to help the community.  In particular they funded the building of a small community school in Malama village.

At the end of 2009, when Project Luangwa was formed, they were offered the job of managing Project Luangwa.  An opportunity that they felt was too good to miss.
