"It is one of the world’s last unspoilt wilderness areas and possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa.”
Nestled within an ancient ebony grove on the banks of the Luangwa River and overlooking the Wafwa Oxbow Lagoon lies this intimate owner-run lodge, catering for just five couples at any one time.
The lodge is unique with its décor (all locally crafted and hand-made) and great attention to detail has made Luangwa River Lodge quite like anything else in South Luangwa or even Zambia. The lodge is elevated between 1-3 metres on wooden decks affording great views to the park and river.
The [infinity] swimming pool is submerged into the deck on two levels with a waterfall adjoining the two pools (one for swimming and the other for seating).
The seating areas are all elevated and open plan with a bar area as well as a dining and reading area.
"Joining Project Luangwa was an easy decision to make...”
We are currently associated with Chuitika Basic School and on an individual basis promote the use of local produce. We provide vegetable farmers with the necessary equipment to grow and supply the lodge with vegetables. We also try to ensure anything we need at the lodge is sourced locally wherever possible. Joining Project Luangwa was an easy decision to make as we feel a group of lodges working together would make a bigger contribution to the community.
