Kakumbi Basic School is approximately 16km from the main road that takes tourists from the airport to the South Luangwa National Park and therefore very rarely sees any tourists and apart from the support of the Chipembele Wildlife Trust and Project Luangwa receives very little external aid. The School is in desperate need of repair. The roofs of all the buildings have been badly attacked by termites and regularly lose portions of the roof during the rainy season. Funding is required to also build a new classroom block, replace the toilets, build a library and workshop.
